Despite Brett Agnew netting his first goal for the Brewers two minutes after coming off the bench, three goals in six minutes saw Redcar win the tie.
John Deacey fielded two different elevens for each half following the arrival of 12 new players over the last month.
Tadcaster started the game brightly, Nathan Dyer was instantly in on the action bombing down the right. A clever, deft backheel flick from Romario Vieira set Dyer on his way, the delivery, albeit a tad overhit, almost found its way in at the far corner.
The Brewers had their first effort of the game in the tenth minute, Des Amponsah took aim but could not keep the shot down.
Three minutes later Tad had their first shot on target, Donald Chimalilo managed to work room for a strike, his low drive was saved and then gathered by the keeper at the second attempt.
On the quarter of an hour mark the new Tadcaster number one, Ryan Musselwhite watched an effort into his hands as Redcar had their first sighting of goal.
In the 23rd minute the visitors broke the deadlock - a brilliant strike from Isaac Walker from the edge of the box nestled into the bottom corner, 0-1.
Despite going a goal down Tad continued to keep the ball moving and dictate proceedings. They almost levelled in the 26th minute when Jack Crook linked up with Chimalilo, playing a clever one-two putting the former in on goal but his shot was charged down by the keeper.
Little after the half hour mark Amponsah again tried his luck, a powerful left footed strike looked destined for the bottom corner but for a smart save by the keeper tipping the shot round the post.
From the resulting corner Tadcaster came close to equalising, Josh Grant’s whipped corner was met by Amponsah’s head but the winger could not direct the effort beyond the keeper. The ball was cleared only as far as Grant who again delivered a dangerous cross and this time Dec McGivern rose highest but could not keep his header down with the keeper well off his line.
Ten changes were made at the break with only Musslewhite keeping his place. A change of kit to the white away strip was also made at the break as Tad again made a fast start. Two minutes after the break Brett Agnew opened his account, looping a header into the far corner following a clever stood up cross by Sam Barker, 1-1.
In the 56th minute Tad created another opening; Agnew and Mark Ferguson linked up with the latter cutting inside his man from the left edge of the box before firing powerfully straight at the keeper who held.
In the 65th and 67th minutes respectively two mix ups at the back let Redcar in and both chances were converted as a trialist and Isaac Walker scored putting the visitors 1-3 up.
Four minutes later Redcar had their fourth - Musslewhite did well to make an initial save but Liam Williams was on hand to net the rebound, 1-4.
The final chance, or half chance of the game, fell the way of Tadcaster, Ferguson did really well on the right to beat his man before pulling the ball back for Agnew but his shot was charged down by an on-rushing defender.
With results taking a back seat at this stage, Tadcaster no doubt have a platform to build on, with a host of new players and a number of changes from last season. There is work to be done but plenty of time to do it before the new campaign kicks off.
Next up for the Brewers is another fixture at Ings Lane as this Friday they host Tadcaster Magnets, kick off 7:30pm.
