The club was established circa 1958. The ground capacity is 1200 which includes a 300 seater stand, the actual seats having been purchased from Manchester City’s Maine Road Stadium before their move to the Etihad. Their home strip is all blue.
The “Colls” were promoted from the Northern Counties East league after winning the title at the end of the 2017/18 season.
We played them twice last year with honours even, both teams winning the away matches.
They finished in second place in the league table amassing 76 points from 38 games , quite a way ahead of ourselves in sixth place with 66 points.
Last Saturday they were held to a 1 – 1 draw at Runcorn Linnets
Their centre forward will need careful watching – Taddy favourite, Joe Lumsden, joined them recently having decided that Scarborough was not for him.
Curtis Woodhouse sees this as one of the hardest games of the new season;
“We have watched Pontefract in pre season. The play a very direct game with plenty of long balls and they play it extremely well. I have a lot of respect for their management partnership of Craig Parry and Craig Rouse dating back to my Bridlington days. For me this is going to be one of our toughest games this season.
We should be at full strength although there is a slight doubt hanging over Casey Stewart after that crunching tackle last Saturday”
