On Saturday afternoon, The Brewers look to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 4 games against league leaders Golcar United from Huddersfield. They do this on the back of their very late dramatic victory away at Frickley Athletic last Saturday. On the same day, Golcar United went top of the table with a fine 3-0 victory at home to Campion. This was their 3rd 3-0 in a row and a fifth victory on the spin.
This season back in October, the league game at Golcar was a 2-1 home win for the home team. Last season, The Brewers completed the league double with a 1-0 away win and a 2-1 home win. This is Golcar’s 3rd season in the NCEL and have previously had finishes of 9th and 12th. They previously played in the Northern West Counties League.
At the top of the table, Golcar United have 49 points from 21 games played, the same return as Silsden have, but with a much better goal difference. They have taken 22 points from 11 away games, so they do drop points on their travels. George Doyle has scored 19 goals in all competitions but other players have contributed with decent returns. The Brewers are now 10 points clear of the 2nd relegation place, but have played more games than most of the teams below them.
So a really good test for The Brewers after their recent good form. I hope you can support the team on the day as we play our last game before Christmas.
Best
