The 28-year-old attacker becomes Mick O’Connell’s third arrival joining from Harrogate
Railway.
Stewart is excited about his “no-brainer” move to Tadcaster, he said: “It’s a good club, it’s
got a lot of pedigree so it was really a no-brainer for me to come down here, enjoy
football again and build this team back up to where it should be.”
Stewart is accustomed to Yorkshire having played at three fellow Yorkshire outfits, he
recalled: “I’ve played locally quite a lot, I started off at Harrogate Railway, then moved to
Knaresborough and Penistone as well.
“It’s been good experience playing in some good teams - I’ve got a lot of experience I’d say at this level.”
Stewart joins Taddy on the back of, on the whole, a good season with O’Connell’s Railway
side last season, narrowly missing out on play-offs.
“It was a good season, we got second and probably should have been promoted which
was a bit of a shame but it is what it is. The gaffer’s a brilliant coach and when he asked me to come along it was really a no-brainer for me.”
Stewart promises to be an exciting introduction with fans expecting to see an attacking
player who is looking for goals this season.“Personally, I’d love to get over the 15-20 goal mark as an attacker - I think it’s crucial to play a part.
“I quite like playing off the left-hand side coming inside and getting shots away as well as
set pieces; we were strong with those last season.
I’d say I’m a threat in the box as well.”
Stewart has his eyes on writing the wrongs of last season and does not want to be on the
wrong side of promotion again.
“As a team the aim is to get promotion, that’s first and foremost. I think we’ve got the
attributes and the facilities to do it - there’s no doubt about that.”
“Promotion is on the agenda.”
That is good to hear Luke – You are very welcome at Tadcaster Albion
